No police complaint 2 days after accident

Soon after the accident, Fernandes tailed the car by hailing a passing autorickshaw and confronted the driver.

Later, when she went to lodge a complaint at Malad police station, the officials present there told her to get a medical certificate from a hospital before a complaint could be lodged.

When she went back to the police station with her hand in a cast and armed with the “medical report”, the officials refused to lodge a complaint, saying that a report from a government hospital was required, said Maria who had been taken to a nearby private hospital.

The police, however, had a another version.

“We were ready to take down the complaint and told her to reach Bhagwati hospital with one of our officers, but she did not go along,” said Senior Police Inspector Maruti Rathod.
