The next time you do an online booking for a seat on the state transport air-conditioned Shivneri bus to Pune, you will not only receive a confirmation of your reservation over your mobile phone, but also one reminding you of your journey 4 hours in advance.
The SMS will give details of your journey, the time, the route and finally your seat number. You will also receive an SMS if you happen to cancel your journey, which was not there before.
Till now a person could book a ticket online and could print a ticket hard copy which had to be taken for the ride.
But if he happened to cancel a ticket, he did not get any confirmation about it unless the amount got credited back into his account. Now a passenger will be informed immediately through SMS.
“The system has been set up on an experimental basis and will be extended to all state semi-luxury, Sheetal and other standard buses in the next fortnight,” said Deepak Kapoor, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
