Two city-based filmmakers, Aalika Mahindra, 28, and Anjali Bhushan, 39, are working on a documentary titled The Bandra Project, which seeks to record the buzzing, much-loved suburb as it is today, through the stories of its residents.

The film aims to explore all aspects of the suburb, from the newest residents in their multi-storey luxury apartment buildings to the oldest residents in the picturesque gaothans and members of emerging groups such as the LGBT community. It also explores Bandra as a space, questions what makes it tick and examines how it became such a different world from the rest of the city, emerging as one of the most coveted addresses in Mumbai.
The film is set for release some time next year. Meanwhile, Mahindra and Bhushan have also set up a website, thebandraproject. com, where they post snapshots of their daily footage.
