The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided not to announce its Class 10 results on May 27. Only Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results will be out on Wednesday.
CBSE public relations officer Rama Sharma said, “CBSE Class 10 results are not going to be announced on Wednesday. We will send a mailer announcing the dates of the results.”
Earlier, a government website had mentioned that the Class 10 CBSE results would be announced on May 27.
On Tuesday morning, the website pulled down the Class 10 result announcement, without stating any reason for it.
Meanwhile, students have been flooding counselling helplines with anxious calls over HSC and CBSE Class 10 results.
Helplines run by non-governmental organisations and counsellors received calls from hundreds of students expressing anxiety on the eve of the results.
The Mumbai division of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has decided to open its helplines only after the results are announced.
Divisional chairperson Laxmikant Pande said the board has decided not to keep its helplines open before the results to avoid students’ calls.

{{/usCountry}}“We have seen that if we keep helplines open before results, students phone in asking about the results,” said Pande. “So, we will open the helplines from Wednesday.”
With the board helplines shut, students turned to other helplines.
“We have been inundated by calls from anxious students,” said Arun John, executive vice-president, Vandrevala Foundation, Powai. “We usually receive 5,000 calls a month, but during the result period, the number has doubled.”
Most calls have been from students worried about failure or afraid of not meeting the expectations of parents and teachers. “Many students were filled with guilt of not having studied properly for the exams,” added John.
