The three-hour programme was divided into three sessions, each one relating to the three streams — arts, commerce and science. The programme also had ‘Ask the counsellor’ facility, which helped students in having a one-on-one interaction with counsellors seated outside the auditorium.

“The session was informative as well as interactive,” said Annette Crasto, a Class 12 commerce student at St Andrews College. “I learned about the career options available to me after Class 12, besides chartered accountancy and BCom. I also learned about new courses such as forensic accountancy. Overall, I found the session to be useful.”

For Anuvrutti Dungarani, a Class 10 student of Podar International School, Santacruz, the session helped clear his confusion. “When I came for the session, I was confused and didn’t know which stream to choose and what to pursue after Class 10 but after attending the session and speaking to counsellors, I became aware of the vast number of courses I could choose from. I can now make an informed choice.”

Jayanth Lokre, who has a 15-year-old daughter, arrived two hours early for the session. “I did not want to miss out on any information provided by the counsellors here. My daughter scored 92% in her Class 10 board exam and has been a consistent topper in school. We came to this session as we wanted the right guidance on the various career options available,” Lokre said.

Students were given free copies of the HT Campus Calling magazine – a comprehensive guide to 2011 college admissions.
