Part of BMC building’s ceiling falls

A portion of the ceiling in the mayor’s anti-chamber collapsed on Monday evening. “The mayor had left office and no other person was injured,” said an official.

A portion of the ceiling in the mayor’s anti-chamber collapsed on Monday evening.

“The mayor had left office and no other person was injured,” said an official.

“The office of the mayor is in the old building which is still under renovation,” he added.

The 150-year-old Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation building is being renovated by conservation architects as the building is a grade — I heritage structure.

“Although the external repair is done the internal repairs are yet to be done. We are undertaking repair process,” the official said.
