Passengers booking tickets before Mar-end will have to pay balance

The railways’ revised fare rates for suburban and non-suburban trains will be applicable from April 1. These will be applicable to the tickets issued in advance for journeys to commence on or after April 1. “It will be applicable only to long distance train journeys and not to suburban trips,” said a senior railway official.

In case of tickets already issued at pre-revised rates, the difference in fares and other charges will be recovered from April 1, either by the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) in the train or at the booking offices before the journey starts.

Railway officials are saying that though the media has reported about the fare hike of first class travel, they would be able confirm it once official communication reached them the from railway board, and it is expected soon as very few days were left for the implementation of revised fare.
