Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam revealed this on Thursday before the special court after he filed an application seeking production of Ansari’s specimen handwriting taken by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF).

The application sought to adduce additional proof against Ansari.

Nikam said the Pakistani government has confirmed that the passports allegedly held by Ansari were genuine, but were obtained on the basis of bogus documents.

In February 2008, when the Uttar Pradesh STF arrested Ansari in connection with an attack on a CRPF camp, they found some Pakistani passports and hand-drawn map of important Mumbai locations on him.

On Thursday, the special court also recorded the deposition of police sub-inspector Vilas Date, who had investigated the Mazgaon taxi blast on November 26, 2008, and issued summons to National Security Guards (NSG) Lieutenant Colonel R.K. Sharma despite the prosecution refusing to examine any NSG commando involved in the 26/11 operation.

The special court has asked the Lt. Col. Sharma attached to 51-SAG (Special Action Group) of NSG to remain present for deposing as court witness on October 27.
