The Mumbai police have set up two new help lines on Saturday for distressed women who have not received cooperation by the local police.

Distressed women can send their complaints via text messages on 7738144144 and 7738133133.
The matter would then directly be brought to the notice of the Mumbai commissioner of police Arup Patnaik, who will take the final decision.
If it is found that a police officer has failed to perform his duty in a certain case, action would be taken against him.
SP Yadav, joint commissioner of police (administration), said: “Incoming and outgoing calls are barred on these helpline numbers. Soon after we receive a complaint via SMS, the sender will receive a reply. If they feel that their complaint is not getting due consideration from the local police, they can directly approach the Mumbai Police by sending an SMS.”
