‘Pomersbach, Siddharth both apologised to Zohal Hamid’

A day after the US national Zohal Hamid’s lawyer confirmed that she had reached a settlement with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) director, Siddharth Mallya and decided to withdraw the molestation case against Australian player Luke Pomersbach, HT spoke to Sahil Peerzada, the victim’s fiancé.

“We submitted a petition in the Delhi high court on Thursday and requested the withdrawal of the case against Luke. What happened that day was unfortunate,” said Peerzada.

Peerzada, a businessman, said they withdrew the petition after both Pomersbach and Siddharth apologised to the victim on Wednesday.

“Siddharth was a great host at the party. Only that tweet was unfortunate. And he did feel sorry about it later and apologised to her,” he said.

When asked if Pomersbach admitted he had misbehaved with the victim, Peerzada said, “He apologised to her before the court. That says it all.”

Recollecting the events of last week when Pomersbach allegedly molested the victim and later assaulted Peerzada, he said he was invited to the party by Siddharth Mallya and met Pomersbach for the first time.

“When we were leaving the party, he asked us if we would like to join him for a drink, but I politely declined,” he said.

Peerzada said, “Zohal was extremely traumatised. She is greatly relieved now that we have decided on an out-of-court settlement.” Peerzada added, “The media has portrayed me as a model and actor. I am a very shy person in fact and have never faced the camera.”

Peerzada said he was a Mumbai-based businessman and owns the Shorty Capone, an apparel brand.
