The sessions court acquitted Ravindra Nair (49), principal of Kartika High School, for lack of medical evidence and the prosecution’s failure to prove the case against him.

The Kurla police said on December 8, 2009, when the victim went to the school toilet at 10 am, Nair allegedly bolted the toilet door, gagged her and molested her. But she bit Nair’s right hand and escaped. When she returned to class, she told her teacher she was not feeling well and slept on the bench.

When the girl went home, she narrated the incident to her mother, who lodged a complaint.

Nair’s advocate argued that the medical evidence was inconclusive and apart from the victim’s testimony, there was no evidence produced by the police.

He also argued that school management wanted to remove Nair as principal and had implicated him in a false case.
