Pune man held for raping 20-yr-old

MUMBAI: A 31-year-old from Pune was arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old multiple times over a period of three years after he took photograph of the victim when she was a minor and then blackmailed her from time to time.

The police have also arrested the 27-year-old wife of the accused for allegedly sending some of these photographs to victim’s mother via mobile phone.

An FIR was registered by the Dindoshi police in Malad (East) on Thursday. The victim is from Nagpur while the accused couple are from Pune. The accused and victim met on Facebook. In October 2013, the victim, who was 17 years old, met the accused on Facebook. The accused had married a year before he met the victim.

On the same day, a Dindoshi police team nabbed the duo from Shivaji Nagar in Pune and brought them back. They have been booked for rape, assault and insulting the modesty of women under IPC apart from relevant sections of POCSO and for sending offensive messages and transmitting obscene materials under the IT Act. They have been remanded in police custody till June 2 by a sessions court.
