Some unidentified men on Tuesday morning broke into a jewellery shop in Nallasopara and stole ornaments worth more than Rs 35 lakh.

According to the police, the incident happened at Necklace Jewellers near Nallasopara railway station. The matter came to light when Suresh Jain, the owner opened the shop and found ornaments from the display missing. Jain found the rear wall of the shop broken.
“The accused must have sneaked into the shop through the hole they dug in the wall,” said police inspector Pradeep Mane.
The officials said the hole in the wall was enough for a thin man to enter the shop. The shop had not installed closed circuit television cameras inside the shop, as advised by the police.
The police have not ruled out the involvement of a security guard from the area, who has been missing since the morning.
sniffer dog was pressed into the detection and finger prints from the shop were recorded by the police officials.
“We are working on certain clues and are sure to crack the case soon,” added Mane.
