Rs 8.5 lakh theft from bizman’s home

The Amboli police have registered a case of house break-in and theft against an unidentified person who reportedly broke into the residence of an Andheri-based businessman during daytime and made away with cash and valuables collectively worth around `8.5 lakh.

The incident took place on Tuesday between 10.30am and 2.45pm, at the eighth floor flat of Amit Sandeep Desai (45), at Chintan building on Veera Desai Road in Andheri (W).

The complainant had locked his house and had gone to the passport office when the incident took place. According to the police, the accused entered the house by breaking the main door lock. He then went to Desai’s bedroom where he broke open the cupboard. The police suspect the involvement of an insider in the incident. The police will now question residents of the building to ascertain whether they had seen any stranger entering or exiting the building.
