Nirupam along with other partymen held a protest near Ambedkar statue at Cooperage ground near the Mantralaya, close to the venue of the Prime Minister's event in Mumbai on Thursday.

The protest was to highlight the injustice to Mumbai by shifting international financial hub to Ahmedabad and also to oppose the stopping of foodgrains supply in ration shops to people with APL cards, Nirupam said.

The senior Congress leader and other activists were taken to Colaba police station in south Mumbai, police said.
