Sealink sees its third accident, 6 injured

A Honda Accord on their return lane rammed into them while they were doing this, leaving six injured — four from the Lacer and two from the Accord.

The occupants of the Lancer are Sumeet Waig (26), Nidhi Sharma (22), Mansi Sharma (19) and Kunal Ahuja. The Accord’s occupants included its driver Mansingh Khadka (32), and his boss’s son Juvesh Bhojwani (24). Rushed to Lilavati hospital, four of the injured were discharged after treatment, Bhojwani and Ahuja are critical.

The police have said this latest accident underlines the need for a permanent police presence on the sealink, which is now man-ned by private security guards.

“The presence of more police on the sealink will deter people from breaking the speed limit and violating other traffic rules,” said Police Sub Inspector Anil Harne of Worli police station.

The traffic police are in the process of getting imported closed-circuit cameras that can also detect speed, something that the existing cameras cannot. Sunday’s collision was reportedly so powerful it damaged the boundary wall of the sealink.

Waig, who was driving the Lancer, was arrested.
