With the increased demand for the self-financing professional courses such as Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), principals were doubtful if there would even be seats remaining for a third merit list.

“In spite of there being a second day (June 25) allotted for the confirmation of admissions, all seats for the professional courses were filled up on Friday itself,” said Kirti Narain, principal, Jai Hind College, Churchgate.

“Thus, the lists for BMM and BMS have closed, while for

vanilla courses such as BCom and BSc, we will have a third list,

after confirming the withdrawals.”

In St Xavier’s College, Dhobi Talao, there were vacancies available only in the minority quota. “All students who made it to the first merit list in the open category confirmed their seats,” said Madhuri Raijada, BMM coordinator, St Xavier’s College.

Thus, there is no room for a third merit list for the self-financing courses in the college.

The situation is similar at St Andrew’s College, Bandra.

“BMS is the most popular course this year, closely followed by BMM. This year, a large number of students from the commerce stream have taken admission to both the courses,” said Marie Fernandes, principal of St Andrew’s College.
