These are some of the security measures being planned by the state government as part of an ongoing process of increasing security at major tourist attractions in

Mumbai such as the Gateway of India and the Bandra-Worli sea link.

To outline and implement the plan, a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Chandra Iyengar has been constituted.

The committee consists of representatives of the port trust, coast guard, police and administration, which met for discussions on Monday at the office of the Home Minister RR Patil.

“We are looking at improving security measures in these two areas and considering different measures that can be taken. For the sea link, we have set aside a budget of Rs 52 crore for security purposes,” Patil said after the meeting.

India to avoid overcrowding, setting up of rules for private ferries and luxury cruise liners and installation of sensors between poles of the sea link to prevent boats from passing under it.
