In a step towards allowing you to decide what changes will be made to the city’s infrastructure over the next 20 years, the civic body has put up a notification announcing the draft Development Plan (DP) 2034 on its website — www.mcgm.gov.in — for feedback.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s notification, which was published on Wednesday, stated, “The suggestions and/or objections are now invited from members of the public in respect of the said Draft Development Plans of Greater Mumbai (2034) within 60 days from the date of publication of this notice in the official government gazette and the same would be considered while finalising and submitting the said Draft Development Plan (2034) to the state government for their final sanction.”

The suggestions will have to be sent to the civic body in writing, within the statutory 60-day period.

The DP reports and ward-wise maps, however, have not been uploaded on the website. To access them, citizens will have to go to the BMC headquarters or the zonal offices of the BMC’s building proposals offices (see box).

The BMC has released a 64-page executive summary of the draft DP 2034, a 508-page comprehensive report on the DP, a 279-page Development Control Regulations (DCR) 2034 and FSI and DP reservation maps of each of the 150 planning sectors the city has been divided into. Pankaj Joshi, executive director, Urban Design Research Institute, said, “It will be difficult for such a large population to visit the zonal offices to read the large copies. The data must be downloaded on the website.”

Meanwhile, members of NGO Hamara Shahar Vikas Niyojan Abhiyaan met civic chief Sitaram Kunte on Thursday, who said sector-wise and ward-wise consultations will be held on the DP.
