Sheena Bora murder: CBI to grill Peter, Indrani on fresh ‘info’

A court granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) permission on Monday to question all the four accused in the Sheena Bora murder case. The investigating agency had moved a fresh application on January 14.

Peter Mukerjea was arrested by the CBI on November 20 last year, while his wife Indrani, her driver Shyamvar Rai and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna were arrested by the Khar police on August 25.

According to CBI sources, the agency has fresh information and evidence and they want to question the accused with regards to this. The four accused are at present in jail – Peter, Shyamvar and Khanna at Arthur Road Jail and Indrani is in Byculla women’s jail.

CBI prosecutor Kavita Patil told the court that they have some fresh evidence and information for which they need to question the accused.

The CBI, in its reply, said that during an interrogation on December 15, Indrani had revealed that she had informed Peter about Sheena’s murder and that Peter had played a key role in concealing the murder.

Peter had moved a bail plea on January 4, stating that he has been falsely implicated. “It is absurd to suggest that the applicant would conspire with his wife’s former husband to murder Sheena. The applicant did not stand to gain anything from the murder and the CBI has miserably failed to even remotely show what has been the gain,” Peter had said in his bail application.
