The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demanded an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into the financial transactions of INX Media — once co-owned by Peter Mukerjea and his wife Indrani, who is accused of her daughter Sheena Bora’s murder.

“The ED should probe the matter, as it involves money laundering. This will expose a BJP leader who is close to an industrialist involved in the scam,” said party spokesperson Nawab Malik, claiming the transfer of former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria was linked to this.
“The transfer came days after Maria hinted at probing the Mukerjeas’ financial links and hunting the trail of bank accounts in other countries. There was no need to transfer Maria, but it was done to save this person,” Malik said.
Malik also called the state government’s decision to allow Maria to continue heading the Sheena murder probe as a damage control move.
“This decision was taken when we raised the matter. KP Bakshi, the additional chief secretary (home) spoke to the chief minister, who is travelling abroad and devised this face-saving method,” he said.
