Sweden has decided to open a Consulate-General office in Mumbai, Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt announced on Wednesday.

The focus of the Consulate, expected to open in the middle of next year, will be on Sweden promotion activities. The Consulate-General will have a significant role in developing a network of contacts with representatives of India’s business sector and institutions, he said.
Contacts between Sweden and India have increased and widened considerably in recent years. This applies at a political level, within the business sector, and among researchers and students, he said.
