Four undertrials who attacked jail authorities on Saturday are alleged Indian Mujahideen men accused of serial blasts in the country in 2008. The Navi Mumbai police are preparing to seek custody of them to investigate the attack.

The undertrials Feroz Mujawar, Mobin Shakoor, Azad Khalid and Anwar Gani are alleged to have attacked five Taloja jail authorities – senior jailer AS Sadaphule and guards Suryakant Patil, Rahul Shirke, Nishant Gaikwad and Hawaldar Sadashiv Sawant.
SM Jadhav, assistant inspector of Kharghar police station, said, “Around 5 pm, Sawant told us the five accused insisted that they be allowed to go near the jail gate. When he refused they assaulted him.”
Jadhav said, “When the other four jail authorities rushed to the spot, they too were attacked. The accused are Indian Mujahideen men charged with terror activities in 2008.”
