Ramchandra Nadar (42) told the police that he was feeling guilty about what he had done and did not know where to hide his face.

Nadar said to the police that he had started raping the girl 15 days before the complaint was registered and not since December as claimed by the victim’s mother.

The accused, a double graduate from Chennai specialised in English and Mathematics had a very high profile clientele.

He told the police that when he had started tutoring the victim he had no such intentions. “It was around 15 days before the complaint was registered . I was with the victim in her house tutoring her. The electricity went off and that is the first time I committed the crime,” Nadar told the police.

Following this the incidents continued until the victim’s aunt, who stays in the same building, came to her residence and suspected something wrong and informed the victim’s mother.

A complaint was lodged against him with the Khar police. The police said the victim's maid also used to be in the house but she never suspected anything.

“She used to be watching TV or in the kitchen doing household chores. She never went to the room where Nadar used to tutor the girl,” said a police official of Khar police station requesting anonymity.

“Hence she did not know what was happening,” the official added.

“Nadar has been remanded to judicial custody,” said Senior Inspector Mangesh Pote of Khar police station.
