The police said the accused, who works as a waiter at a suburban hotel, returned to his shanty in Nallasopara after watching a pornographic film.

He saw the girl playing outside her hut, as her parents were not home.

He allegedly took her to an isolated spot and raped her, said police inspector Pradeep Mane.

When the girl’s mother returned she found her crying and bloodstains on her clothes.

The girl told her mother “Bhau ne kele (Brother has done this).” Her parents lodged a complaint and the police found him a few hours later in the area.

He has been sent to the children’s remand home.
