Days before her Class 10 preliminary exams, a 15-year-old girl survived a fall from the terrace of her seven-storey building in Mulund (East).

The girl was lucky as she landed on a car, which cushioned her fall, the police said, adding that she had fractured her left hand and leg. The incident took place around 11.15am on Sunday.

According to the police, the girl, Pinky Shah (name changed), lives with her parents and grandmother on the first-floor of the building.

"On Sunday, Pinky's parents left their home at 10.45am to attend a function," said an officer from Navghar police station, on condition of anonymity.

According to Pinky's statement, she was studying on the terrace when she heard her friends playing in the building compound.

"She thought her they were calling her and went to peep over the terrace parapet. However, she lost her balance and fell," said an officer.

Fortunately, the teenager fell on a Honda Jazz that was parked below. Police said the owner of the car rushed out after he heard a loud thud and informed the security guard when he saw Pinky lying next to the car.
