An advocate, his wife and 10-year-old son were killed after a fire broke out their third floor home in south Mumbai early on Monday, police said.

The fire broke out around 2 am on the third floor of Sharda Building in Taraporewala Lane, DB Marg.

The victims have been identified as Paresh Joshi, 38, his wife Bharti, 34, and their son Rushi. "Paresh Joshi was an advocate. Initial investigations revealed that electric short circuit was the cause of fire," a police officer said.
A fire official said four fire engines, two water tankers and an ambulance were rushed to the spot.
