While Krishna left for his Dahisar home with his father, his mother, Deepika Parmar has been admitted to the hospital’s psychiatric ward. Deepika has been booked for the murder of her baby daughter.

The twins were born prematurely at a private hospital and later shifted to KEM for neo-natal care. “The child (Krishna) is stable and doing well now. He is accepting his feed and has also gained weight,” said Dr Pravin Bangar, resident medical officer, KEM Hospital.

Belatedly, the hospital has installed wire mesh on the windows of its bathrooms.

Deepika was diagnosed as suffering from post-partum depression after Dr Shubhangi Parkar, head of the hospital’s psychiatry department, conducted a series of tests. It was Dr Parkar who named the surviving twin Krishna.

According to doctors, Deepika will be on anti-depressants till the time she is discharged. “She will be kept under observation in the psychiatric ward until we feel she is clinically fit. We need to be sure that she is ready to take care of her surviving child. We will evaluate her condition. She will most probably be discharged in a week’s time,” Dr Parkar said.

“She has shown improvement in the past few days. Her eating habits have returned to normal,” Dr Parkar said.
