Several students taking their final-year Arts exam (on Politics and Society in South Asia) did not get their question papers on time on Wednesday, as the university failed to send the packet containing the papers on time.

There was chaos at the two exam centres, Matunga’s DG Ruparel College and Vikas College, Vikhroli, where students were told there were no question papers. The exam was supposed to start at 11 am.
Pradeep Kulkarni, principal of Ruparel College, said he immediately contacted the exam centre at the University of Mumbai. “They tried to fax the papers, but the quality of the printed matter was not clear in the faxed copy. Finally, the university sent a person with the papers,” he said.
A similar story played out at Vikas College. The MNS students’ wing agitated and the exam finally started at 1 pm.
University’s exam controller Vilas Shinde said his department was working under “tremendous pressure” and as he “faces a massive staff shortage the error occurred”.
