Verdict in 7/11 blasts will bring closure to those suffering: Ex-DGP

“The investigation by the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) and the Mumbai police was very professional and systematic, and we are happy it has borne fruits,” he said.

Roy said in most cases, investigative agencies have some clues to start with, but here, they were totally in the dark. However, they still managed to crack the case and even file the charge sheet within 140 days, he said.

Roy said they will wait for the detailed judgment, check why one person was acquitted, and then decide if an appeal should be filed.

The trial went on for years because the accused used every trick in the book to delay the case, the former DGP said. “This was done because the accused knew they were involved and will be convicted. However, it is good they were given every opportunity to be heard and all their complaints were looked into, as this proves our system gives every person an equal chance.”
