Ward boy arrested for molesting woman in Malad

The Dindoshi police arrested a ward boy of a hospital in Malad on Wednesday on charges of molestation. The 22-year-old victim, a resident of Kurar village in Malad (E), has been visiting the BMC-run SK Patil Hospital, in Malad (East) for 15 days as her husband is admitted there.

The 22-year-old victim, a resident of Kurar village in Malad (E), has been visiting the BMC-run SK Patil Hospital, in Malad (East) for 15 days as her husband is admitted there.

On Monday, after visiting her husband, the woman took the elevator while leaving the hospital. She pressed the elevator button and Nandesh Chauhan (25), a ward boy, also entered the lift.

Inside the elevator, the woman instead of pressing the ground floor button, punched the button to the first floor by mistake, said a police officer.

When the elevator stopped at the first floor, where there were no lights, the woman got out thinking it was the ground floor and Chauhan allegedly followed her.

Before the victim could react, Chauhan grabbed her and pushed her to the corner and allegedly tried to kiss and molested her.

The accused fled and the woman returned home.

On Tuesday, after discussing the incident with her husband, she lodged a complaint.

The accused lives in Dombivli, the police said.
