On Tuesday, there was a 100% water cut in C and D wards that include areas like Thakurdwar, Girguam, Kherwadi and Nanachowk. Areas in south central Mumbai received 25% less water.

Areas in suburbs from Bandra to Santacruz received water, but with reduced pressure.

“We did not receive any water for the last two days, but since we were informed in advance, we had stored enough water. We called two tankers in the morning and filled up the building tank,” said Rajesh Shinde, a Nanachowk resident.

Water cuts are being imposed as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is replacing the Tansa (East), Tansa (West) and Upper Vaitarna pipelines from Maroshi to Ruparel with a 3000 mm diameter tunnel.

It plans to modify distribution patterns and improve water supply. BMC officials said the next phase starts on May 18.

Taradea, Nanachowk , Girgaum and areas between Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Cuffe Parade will receive no water on Wednesday as well.
