Women cops to model police behaviour

This comes after a woman trainee constable was allegedly raped in April by police constable Yuvraj Kamble, 32, in Kolhapur. Kamble was suspended after the victim registered a complaint.

Satej Patil, minister of state for home, told the Hindustan Times, “During the investigation of this case, Jha made a few suggestions. So, I decided to form a small committee to change certain rules, which concern women police personnel.

There is also a need to enforce rules at police training centres to make sure that new recruits are not taken advantage of.”

Patil has called for a meeting of senior women officers next week where a review will be undertaken on the working conditions and rules related to women police personnel.

The report said that Kamble, who trained new recruits, had allegedly invited a women constable to his house and had promised to give her the question paper of the exam. When she went to his house, he allegedly raped her.
