Considering Mumbai’s fast-paced life, a large section of the population does not pay heed to health concerns. On Tuesday, however, several Mumbaiites are set to host a variety of activities to mark World Health Day.

While some groups have planned to conduct a week-long free health checkup, some have made plans to sweat it out.

Vandana Kumavat, a professor at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Kalwa, said: “The college, along with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj hospital and Thane Municipal Corporation, is organising a free health checkup for all working women above the age of 35 years. This camp will be held between April 6 and 11.”

At Powai, residents have organised a football match. “Sports keeps one active and fit. We have organised a match for corporates at our astro turf rink,” said Akash Gambhir, one of the organisers and a resident.

Meanwhile, another group of residents will run for a mini marathon at Lokhandwala Complex, covering a distance of eight kilometres.

There are others who believe health is just not for the body, but the mind as well. “Along with your body, your mind needs exercise too. So, we have organised a game called Fletter in our residential complex. It is a word game that makes you think fast, and act faster,” said Sahil Wadhwa, a resident of Bandra (West).
