The Capital is buzzing with excitement, and it’s not just the Commonwealth Games. Performing in the Capital tonight is the one of Britain’s finest String Quartet — the Endellion String Quartet.

The Capital is buzzing with excitement, and it’s not just the Commonwealth Games. Performing in the Capital tonight is the one of Britain’s finest String Quartet — the Endellion String Quartet. Comprising Andrew Watkinson and Ralph de Souza playing the Violin, Garfield Jackson playing the Viola & David Waterman playing the Cello — the quartet have performed all over the world.

Talking to HT City about their India visit, Watkinson says, “We hope to see many young people in the audience as we have seen in previous concerts in India when we performed in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. This will be our very first concert in Gurgaon and New Delhi. Our suggestion to the audience is not to think too much, just listen to the sounds and create images and emotions.”

Commonwealth Games

The quartet have recorded classical greats such as Mozart, Bartok, Dvorak, Smetana, Schubert, Tchaikovsky. “We play with passion, commitment, understanding and with a strong desire to be true to the composer’s original intentions. It is music which stimulates the heart, the mind and the soul”.

We look forward to such partnerships,” he says. And yes, they’re excited about watching a couple of Commonwealth Games. Besides the Taj Mahal, Watkinson also wants to visit Chennai. “It’s where my mother was born and my grandfather was buried,” he says.

They perform tonight at 7pm the Stein Auditorium, Indian Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road.
