According to a press statement issued on Monday, the Nederlander Organisation will produce a musical based on the song's groundbreaking video, in which the former King of Pop turns into a werewolf while on a date. The production will feature songs from Jackson's albums Thriller and Off the Wall.
"This musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson-authorised version of Thriller and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process," said Nederlander in a statement.
"I love the idea of making Thriller a musical. Girl meets boy, they fall in love, boy has big secret, now what?", said Nederlander, whose company owns nine Broadway theatres.
