Lucky Ali to release album after five years

First single, Dil gaye ja, from the album X Suie available for download. Nikhil Taneja tells more.

After a hiatus of five years from the music scene, Lucky Ali will soon be back with his seventh studio album, X Suie, pronounced as ‘ik soie’. On his birthday on September 19, Ali digitally released the first single from the album, Dil gaye ja, on www.bluefrogsounds.com/musicstore, without any hype. In fact, the singer, who charmed millions of music lovers with his debut album Sunoh, in 1996, has been strangely secretive about his new album, which succeeds his last chartbuster album, Kabhi Aisa Lagta Hai (2004).

The website on which the song is available for download for Rs 45 says that X Suie, a Farsi word for ‘fursat se’, or ‘at your own pace’ is an album that ‘has come from the heart and speaks to everyone who takes life as it comes, or at their own pace.’

The website also says that ‘Ali now finds himself on the verge of a new beginning; he knows which direction he is headed in and knows that he has a long way to go’.

Though Ali remained unavailable for comment as repeated phone calls went unanswered, an article on his Facebook page gives a brief insight into the album. In the article, Ali is quoted as saying that the album will have nine original tracks and the songs will be “melodious and different from the previous albums, in a progressive sort of way”.
