It takes a while to grab onto what he says. Speaking in heavily accented cockney, trickled with gasps of cackles, DJ Scott is a man of many laughs. “Call me Scotty, yeah?” he guffaws into the phone. The Ministry of Sound DJ will be spinning a live set at Shiro this Saturday and the man is super excited about flying to India.

“I’m catching my flight to Mumbai in a couple of hours and I can’t wait to get to India. I am dying to eat Indian food. I love it,” he said. Scott last visited India on New Year’s eve, 2009, for all of eight hours, when he rang in the New Year at a club in Goa.

“I went from the airport straight to the club and flew back immediately afterwards. I didn’t see anything except for the view on the ride from the airport to the club. This time I’m hoping to pack in more,” opines Scott, who will be visiting around five Indian cities over his six-days tour here.

Quiz the places he’ll be visiting and the man is clueless. “I don’t know, honestly. I’ll reach Mumbai and see my itinerary,” laughs Scott, whose memories of India contain a mad crowd of clubbers. “I really wanted to come to India again. The crowd was crazy. They partied so hard, it nearly knocked me socks off.”

Musically, Scott is diverse enough to play soulful US house, deep funky tribal, progressive, tech house, with a twist of dirty disco when need be. We wonder Bollywood? “Why the hell not? I have five nights to learn” he signs off.
