Amitabh Uncle is the latest tribute to Big B, by the music band Dedh Iinch Upar. The song depicts the journey of a fan from his hometown to see his childhood hero. Charu Moohan, lead singer of Dedh Iinch Upar, says, “Amitabh’s humility is our inspiration. He continues to touch so many lives with his films and the way he conducts himself. As fans, we wanted to reach out to him.”
This song is a part of an album called Thank You Mumbai, which was launched on May 1 as part of the Maharashtra Day celebrations. Singer Anubbhav Sumann, another band member says, “This album is the band’s way of thanking the city and its people who make it what it is. ‘Amitabh Uncle...’ is the second song we will release and will be available online later this month.” The song is written by Navin Jha and composed by Charu.
Shivanand Chand, founder of AB Fans Foundation and producer of this song, says, “Amitabh ji knows about this fan foundation, but is not directly involved in it. I had sent him the audio and the video CD of the song and I also met him after that.” The foundation, Chand says, was founded in 2007 and distributes food and clothes to the destitute outside Bachchan’s bungalow on his birthday.
