Mumbai’s heavy metal band, Demonic Resurrection, burst onto Mumbai’s live scene with an explosive concert at Blue Frog last Sunday. Playing for the first time at the more-often soft rock venue, Demonic Resurrection said the gig was fantastic.
Bassist, Husain Bandukwala, explained how metal is a very niche form of music, making it difficult to find venues in the city. “Metal is not really an open form of music”, he says. The band also comprises of Sahil Makhija on vocals and guitar, Jetesh Menoj on xkeyboards, Daniel Rego on guitars and Virendra Kaith on drums.
Demonic Resurrection played alongside the thrash band, Devoid. Bandukwala explains, “The concert is a big step for metal in India.” The last time Blue Frog headbanged to metal was in April, when Bhayanak Maut and Reverse Polarity took to the stage.
Having been around for 10 years now Demonic Resurrection, owe it all to their idols. “We work with a number of different musicians,” says Bandukwala.
After their third album, The Return to Darkness, Bandukwala said playing at Norway’s Inferno 2010 was a real highlight. In August, the band will be taking their music to the Czech Republic, which again, has a strong metal scene.
