For a capella group, Penn Masala, who recently created a little fan-frenzy on the social networking websites following their tribute to Bollywood music over the last 100 years, feels they are privileged to have received such a response.
"Since releasing Evolution of Bollywood Music, we’ve heard from , Shreya Ghoshal, , Sunidhi Chauhan and more, all giving us their support and love. It’s incredibly humbling," says Varshil, one of the members of the group who spoke to us in an email interview.
The group, which was in India to shoot for one of their songs, Fix You/Ishq Bina, further reveal that they love visiting the country.
"We are always yearning to head back to India, the birthplace of our music and an experience like no other. We had the fortune of exploring around Bombay during our 2013 India Tour, and would love to hit a few more cities to check out the scene, next time."
On their meeting with US President Barack Obama, the group says, "We were fortunate to have been asked to perform at the White House for the Diwali celebration and signing for an Asian-American initiative. Walking through the White House, meeting President Obama, performing for him and other dignitaries and having the President say the name Penn Masala to dozens of cameras were indeed surreal moments for us. It’s actually funny, because later on that year, we went on to giving a similar performance for UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and he said to us, Was this as exciting as performing for Mr Obama?"
