Music directors on the songs they would have loved to have him sing

Vishal Dadlani
Shekhar and I would have made him sing all our songs. Such is his versatility. In fact, our style is inspired from the Panchamda-Kishoreda school of thought. That is definitely reflected in our music, if you have observed.
It is very difficult to be specific on which songs of ours we would have chosen him for, but if you want me to name them then I would go for Dil ne tumko from Jhankaar Beats, Lo shuru from Shabd and even some of the songs from Ta Ra Rum Pum. In fact, he could have sung all the songs from Jhankaar Beats.
Ismail Darbar
I wish he had been alive today. At times, when I compose a song, I have him in mind, so you can jolly well make out how much I miss him. Being specific is tough but I would go for Aankhon ki from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Woh chaand jaisi from Devdas.
In fact, I would have loved him to sing all the numbers. The best part about Kishoreda was that he was a natural singer. He could also sing on a very low note, if needed. And in every song, his expression used to be so perfect that it seemed like he was the actor himself.
Given a choice I — along with Ehsaan and Loy — would have made him sing everything. He is so versatile and there is no doubt about it. There are lots of songs — he is not only a fantastic singer but also one of my biggest idols.
I would have made him sing the Don title track, Kajra re from Bunty Aur Babli, the Kal Ho Na Ho title track and of course the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom title song. He would have rocked. You know I am very biased towards him. He is the reason why I came into film music. I grew up listening to his tracks.

I am always happy with my singers and appreciate their efforts. So, it would be wrong on my part to think of somebody else in his or her place. This is my theory. All my singers have done full justice to my songs, so I have no reason to be disappointed with them.
When I choose a singer, I do it with full conviction and have utmost trust in him. I would give it a different interpretation. I would make Kishore Kumar sing Ek ajnabee and Khaike paan — yes, both are his songs but I would have made him sing them differently, in my own way.

In my view there is not a single word in the dictionary, which can define his capabilities. To call him a genius would be an understatement. Sabhi gaana unse gava lete hum aur kya (I would have made him sing all my songs). To single out I would mention Pyar to hona hi tha (the song sung by Kumar Sanu) from the film of the same name and Mera chaand mujhe from Bambai Ka Babu. To me he is an institution and somebody indispensable. He was the pride of the whole world.
