As a tribute to the nation, sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his sons, musicians Amaan and Ayaan, have shot for a video, in which they will be seen playing the tune of Vande Mataram on the sarod. "It has been sung by several singers over the years, but it has seldom been played only on an instrument," says Khan, adding, "The aim is to make our countrymen realise that we are Indians first. You could be born in any religion, that is your destiny, but that doesn't take away from the fact that you are an Indian too."
The video will be released on several platforms on August 14. Khan feels that people need to understand the importance of peace. He feels that this video is a step in that direction. "Unity has strength; when we do something collectively, it always has a very deep impact," adds Khan, stressing on the need for a more united India.

On the other hand, his older brother, Amaan, says that music is the only thing that they, as a family, have to offer, and hence, they felt that a musical tribute will be apt for the occasion of India's 69th Independence Day. "It's a way of saluting our nation… music is our wealth, and we have nothing else to offer," says the sarod player, adding that it took them eight hours to shoot for the music video.
