We have all grown up listening to and singing the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, written by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Now, how about listening to the anthem sung by the man himself? This Independence Day, Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar shared a video of Tagore, often known by the sobriquet Gurudev, singing the anthem.

In his characteristic long kurta, familiar white hair and a flowing beard, Tagore cuts a striking figure. An entire generation may have grown up not knowing that Tagore was a multi-faceted artiste -- poet, painter and a singer. Listen to him singing and one notices how well he sings.

Jana Gana Mana was written in Bengali by Tagore in 1911 and adopted as the national anthem on January 24, 1950.
