MUMBAI: On the final day of the form-filling process for admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other government-funded institutes in the country, 1.8 lakh students finished the process.

A total of 1.6 crore options have been listed by registered students this year. IITs alone received 33,581 applications, with 41.68 lakh options mentioned in their forms.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority is handling admissions to 92 institutes for the academic year 2016-17. This includes 22 IITs, 31 NITs, 20 Indian Institutes of Information Technology and 18 other-government funded technical institutes.
