7 people killed, 13 injured after MSRTC bus hits tree in Solapur

PUNE: Seven people were killed in an accident when an MSRTC bus hit a tree near Akluj in Solapur district on Thursday.

The police said the accident occurred when an ST driver tried to avoid a speeding motorcycle.

The driver reportedly lost control over the bus and dashed against a tree. The police said 13 people were injured in the accident.

Solapur rural police said around 30 passengers were travelling in the Satara-Karmala bus.

Many of them sustained serious injuries because of the impact.

Preliminary information suggests that it took some time for the police to reach the spot because the road hardly had any vehicular traffic.

The injured have been taken to a private hospital in Akluj and a few of them are critical.
