NEW DELHI: A woman officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF), who shot into the limelight after commanding a guard of honour presented to US President Barack Obama last year, has dragged the IAF to court, arguing that she has been denied permanent commission (PC). Wing Commander Pooja Thakur, 37, has approached the Armed Forces Tribunal, seeking that the IAF be directed to reconsider her application for PC. IAF sources, however, said Thakur had the opportunity to opt for PC four years ago but she decided against it citing personal reasons. Her lawyer, SS Pandey, said she was denied PC due to grey areas in the IAF’s human resource policy.
