Gadoli case: Gurgaon cop arrested for ‘fake’ encounter

MUMBAI: A team of Mumbai crime branch’s special investigating team (SIT) has arrested Gurgaon Police sub-inspector Pradyuman Yadav in connection with the alleged fake encounter of gangster Sandeep Gadoli.
Joint commissioner of police Sanjay Saxena of the Mumbai crime branch confirmed the arrested of Yadav and said: “Yadav was nabbed in Gurgaon and was brought to Mumbai this morning. He will be produced in a court on Wednesday.”
Gadoli’s brother Kuldeep Singh’s advocate Tanveer Nizam said: “The Mumbai police team, with the help of Civil Line police of Gurgaon, arrested Yadav on Tuesday evening.”
The Mumbai crime branch formed a SIT soon after the encounter to investigate the case. Gadoli was killed by Gurgaon policemen at Hotel Airport Metro in Mumbai on February 7, 2016.
At the time of the incident, Gadoli’ s girlfriend Divya Pahuja, who was in the hotel room, gave a statement to the SIT which was later found to be false.
Pahuja had tipped off the Gurgaon police about Gadoli’s location. The Gurgaon policemen had even tried to damage a CCTV camera facing Gadoli’s room, but this act was captured by another CCTV camera.
The SIT then booked eight policemen under the charges of murder and several other relevant section of the IPC for conducting a fake encounter.
The SIT later booked Gadoli’ s girlfriend Divya Pahuja and a local politician Manoj Binder in the case.
Binder is said to be a local politician, who on the day of incident, was in touch with one of the policemen who was part of the encounter on the day of the incident. Binder is also said to be the leader of a gang that was a rival to Gadoli’s.
