“It was not merely a blunder, but a historic suicide. We kept saying the land acquisition was wrong and today the Supreme Court has upheld it,” said the CM, whose success in routing the 34-year-old Left government in Bengal is largely attributed to the anti-acquisition movement in Singur.
“I am very happy. Now I can even die in peace,” the chief minister said after the SC order.
She also ruled out any possibility of an industry coming up on the land acquired by the erstwhile Left Front government for Tata Motors at Singur.
“I will have to abide by the Supreme Court order. If this land is to be returned to all the land owners how can there be a factory,” the CM asked.
