BHOPAL: A woman allegedly murdered her elder sister in Rewa district after an extra-marital love triangle involving the two turned sour, police said on Tuesday.

Mamta, 28, and her paramour, Bhim Kushwah, 32, have been detained for allegedly murdering 31-year-old Rani Kol in Tikar village on July 27. Rewa police said while Mamta — Rani’s younger sister — masterminded the murder, Bhim carried it out.
The two are being questioned in this connection.
Bhim, hailing from Satna district, was employed at the same factory as Rani’s husband, Mahesh Kol. He reportedly got close to Mahesh’s family, and developed an intimate relationship with Rani in 2010. However, when Bhim met Mamta at their house a few years later, he decided to woo her instead.
It was on July 19 that Mamta came to know about her sister’s relationship with Bhim, after seeing photographs of the two on his cellphone. Livid with jealousy, she hatched a plot to eliminate Rani.
Once the murder was planned, Bhim left for Mumbai with Mahesh while Rani stayed back. Bhim returned to Rewa on July 26, and asked Rani to meet him at a desolate place in Tikar village the following night. She agreed, only to land in a trap. Bhim allegedly slit Rani’s throat, then hit her with stones to ensure that she was dead.
Police came to know about the crime when villagers spotted the body on the morning of July 28. “A probe led us to Mamta, who spilled the beans,” an officer said.
